The Worst Assumption You Can Make
Hi everyone! I hope you're feeling blessed today. I want to talk to you about what I believe is the absolute worst assumption you can make in life.
That assumption?
Believing that there’s nothing else you can do.
This mindset can be dangerous because it leads to hopelessness and stagnation. The truth is, there's always something we can do—whether it’s taking action, shifting our perspective, or surrendering to God. Over time, I’ve discovered four powerful tools that help me navigate these moments. And if I’m honest, sometimes I have to start all over again! But that’s okay, because life is a journey, not a one-time fix.
Here are the four tools that have helped me the most:
Faith – Surrendering to God
The first step is having faith and fully surrendering to God. Now, that sounds easy, right? But if you’re an action-oriented person like me, you know it’s not. Sometimes, the hardest thing to do is simply wait on God and trust in His timing.
We often feel the urge to develop a plan and push forward, but if our plan isn’t aligned with God’s will, it won’t bring us true fulfillment. Surrendering means fully believing that He has our back, front, and center, and that no matter what happens, He is in control.
Prayer – Communicating with God
Prayer is our way of talking to God. We tell Him our concerns, our desires, and even the things we don’t understand. But the most powerful prayers, in my opinion, are the ones where we don’t know what to ask for—where we simply surrender to His wisdom and say, “Lord, let Your will be done.”
Sometimes, we limit what God can do in our lives because we ask for things within our human perspective. But when we surrender to His unlimited power, He moves in ways we never imagined. Prayer isn’t about just asking for what we want; it’s about aligning our hearts with what God wants for us.
Meditation – Listening for God’s Answer
Prayer is talking to God, but meditation is listening. It’s about being still and allowing Him to guide us. Too often, we pray, then move on without waiting for His response. But God doesn’t always answer in five minutes or through a text message from a friend. His timing is perfect, and if we’re patient, we’ll receive the clarity we need.
Being still before God also helps us discern whether our ideas are from Him or from our own desires. When we slow down, we make space for divine wisdom to take root in our hearts.
Fasting – Strengthening Our Connection with God
Fasting is a powerful tool that helps us surrender to God on a physical, spiritual, emotional, and mental level. When we fast, we weaken our reliance on the physical and strengthen our dependence on God.
Many people experience increased discernment, breakthroughs, and miracles through fasting. But at its most basic level, fasting helps us build deeper reliance on Christ, aligning our hearts with His will in ways we never could otherwise.
Obedience – Taking Action in Faith
Finally, after praying, meditating, and fasting, it’s time for action. Faith without works is dead (James 2:26). We can’t just ask God to guide us; we must also take steps in the direction He’s leading.
It’s easy to point out what God has or hasn’t done in our lives. But we must also look inward and ask:
What have we done or not done?
What habits or mindsets do we need to change?
How can we take action in faith?
When we obey God’s guidance, we walk in His purpose for us and experience His blessings in ways we never imagined
The worst assumption you can make is that there’s nothing else you can do. There is always a step you can take—whether it’s surrendering in faith, praying, listening, fasting, or stepping out in obedience.
I hope this message has blessed you today! If it has, feel free to like and share it with someone who might need to hear it. Stay blessed and keep walking in faith!
